Welcome to GMACMexicoTravel.com. This website is designed to help GMAC’s Finance and Insurance customers learn about driving to Mexico, and the paperwork that is required in order to do so.

When driving your GMAC financed vehicle to Mexico, we have two important requirements:

1. You must obtain Mexican Auto Insurance from an authorized insurer in Mexico by purchasing a policy that meets GMAC Finance requirements for Liability, and Theft or Damage to the vehicle.

2. Your GMAC finance account must be paid up to-date

When both of these conditions are met, GMAC Finance will then provide you a permission letter authorizing you to take the vehicle to Mexico.

HOW DO I OBTAIN THIS MANDATORY INSURANCE?

You have several options to obtain acceptable Mexico auto insurance:

• You can try to find a local insurance agent handling Mexico insurance
• You can click here to purchase and print your certificate online at your convenience, or
• You can call to obtain this coverage (866) 575-2877.

When you purchase online via this link, or by calling (866) 575-2877 your insurance documents will automatically be transferred to our database, and within 24 hours your letter of permission will be faxed or mailed to you.

Please click here to print the list of required coverages that are acceptable to GMAC. When ordering your insurance, be sure to have the following information at hand:

1. Registration information
2. Year, Make, Model, Current Vehicle Value and VIN (Vehicle ID Number)
3. License Plate Number
4. GMAC Lienholder address and account number
5. Driver’s License
6. Credit or Debit Card

If you purchase your Mexico Insurance from a local agent or a source other than the online link or call center, you will need to fax the insurance policy to (316)652-6349 and our representatives will fax or mail your permission letter to you once we approve the insurance.
